Text Box: The Scrip Program at the school has an unlimited potential for raising money.  However, it is the misunderstood Emo kid of fundraising.  I’m here to dispel some of the myths and to show how Scrip can be your friend!

Scrip is for only those who have money to spend on “extras” at the school.

If you mean food, gas, and clothing as extras, that is true.  That is what scrip is used for.  You are buying the same things you do every time you go to the store, you just use scrip to pay for it.

There are hardly any choices when it comes to where you can use scrip!

There are hundreds of places to use scrip, and they aren’t just the big chain stores.  Here is a list of the nationwide scrip dealers.  We have a large number of local merchants that are also a part of our program.  Take a quick look and see if your favorites are on it!

The school really won’t make much money of this whole thing, why even try?

Ok, a quick money problem here.  The average 2 kid family will spend about $400 a month on food and $225 on gas for the car.
           $625 x 4% (average discount) = $25!
           $25 x 120 families = $3,000 in 1 month!

That’s $3000 the school made in one month from each family using scrip to purchase their fuel and groceries.

Having pizza parties all year long?  If all the families bought just $50 in Papa Murphy’s scrip to use, the profit to the school would be $2,400!  $2,400 to the school, just for eating pizza!

It takes forever to get your scrip after you order it.

If you put your order in on Monday, you get your scrip on Friday of the same week!  If you can’t wait that long, we do have a wide range of scrip on hand that you can purchase from the front desk.  Keep in mind that the on hand amounts are limited, and are on a first come - first serve basis!

What about Scrip during the summer?

We haven’t set up the specifics as of yet, but we will have a couple of days during the summer break to order scrip.  You will be informed as soon as we have those dates set.

I have an idea or thought that may help with scrip, who can I talk to?

I would be more than happy to discuss the scrip program with you.  Just drop me an email, call at 798-5271 (home) or 816-0389 (cell), or tackle me as I walk by and tell me what you think!

You spelled the word “Script” wrong throughout this whole letter!

Actually, I didn’t.  The word really is S-C-R-I-P.  There is no “t” in it.  A script is for a movie or a play.  This is one of those words that get mispronounced frequently, much like the words supposedly, realtor, nuclear, sherbet, espresso, and Swiffer.

Text Box: You don’t get the face value of what you pay for the scrip.

That’s a common misconception (nice way of saying THAT IS WRONG!)  Here is how it works:

· School buys $10 scrip card from the scrip center at a discount of up to 40%
· You buy the $10 scrip card for $10.
· You spend the full $10 at the business listed on the scrip.
· The school keeps the difference between its price and what you paid.

You write a check to the school for $10, get a gift card for $10, spend that $10 gift card on groceries.  It really is t
