The dust is settling, and the numbers are starting to sort themselves out a little more evenly from the “Autumnfest” of October 13. According to auction accounting firm Wie, Lykka, Playe, Wrenwith, & Nuhemberz ,our receivables roughly match (+/- $200) our payables so our final tally on the auction should be around $55,000. This is below the $70,000 we had budgeted, and lower than the $62,000 made last year. So what was the cause of this drop? The comparisons to last February are inevitable, and should provide a quick answer. Yet the similarities are remarkable. For example: Amount raised by Games/Raffles: February: $10,745 October: $10,624 Amount raised by Live & Silent Auctions: February: $43,570 October: $43,466 |

With those numbers virtually the same, we need to dig a bit deeper, and two glaring figures emerge. No, not Batman and Robin, but admission ticket sales and sponsorships. Admission tickets sales were down about 40 from February. This can be attributed to hunting season, UI homecoming, fall sports (grade school thru high school) games being out of town, and a new date. Sponsorships were also down about $6000. The main reason for this was many of our sponsors from earlier in the year had already used up their donation budgets. However, most have indicated that we are a part of their budget for next year. So, it seems that the auction is doing very well once we take those into consideration, and next fall will be a much better indicator for what we can truly expect by moving the event to the fall. Thank you all for your support of this major event, and lets keep the momentum going with the other fundraisers that will be upcoming this year. |
